Ericka moved from Rio de Janeiro to Marin County 11 years ago. As a Brazilian-naturalized American citizen, Ericka is committed to working for social equity and justice as well as those most impacted by environmental, health, and housing inequities.
Ericka has been working at Marin Grassroots for the last ten years in various capacities and currently serves as the organization’s Associate Director (www.maringrassroots.org). She was also recently appointed as the first Latina ever to the Marin County Planning Commission. Additionally, she is the current Board Chair of Brazilian Alliance, a member of the Marin Women’s Political Caucus, and also a member of the coordinating committee of the U.S. Friends of Movimento dos Sem Terra (MST). Ericka also served on the Board of Directors of Alcohol Justice and is a former member of the Marin Women’s Commission.
Ericka holds a Masters in Public Administration from Fundação Getúlio Vargas and a Bachelor’s Degree in Administration from Universidade Federal Fluminense, both in Brazil. She lives in San Rafael with her husband Mark Erickson and baby daughter Eva, and also teaches Zumba as a hobby.
